Twisted ovarian cyst - Ovarian cyst formation remains to be unpredictable even if it is common to women of reproductive age. They usually form after ovulation process and are non-threatening until they turn out to be twisted ovarian cysts.

When ovaries grow bigger than 4cm in diameter, they have the probability to twist. Twisted ovarian cysts  affect the position of the ovaries due to its large size called torsion. The woman will be in excruciating pain as the  twisting of the ovary impedes its circulation as well.  This halt of blood supply will lead to eventually dying of the ovaries. Immediate medical attention is required,

The cyst can rupture while twisting causing tremendous bleeding. The patient should be rushed to the nearest hospital or clinic for cessation of bleeding. Hemorrhage leading to shock will also be possible. Initial signs of shock are hypotension, increased heart rate and increased respiratory rate.

The twisting ovarian twist usually happens at the right side rather the left side. Twisting can also happen in the fallopian tubes. With the same degree felt as it happens in the ovaries. Nausea and vomiting is experienced at time of excruciating pain. The brains can no longer adjust to the pain.

Surgery is required to fix the twisted  ovarian cyst and save the ovary. This is why, the cyst has to be taken seriously and being dealt with while its still small. Once it has twisted, it is very difficult to remove.
